First time trying Yoshinoya. Friday 21 Nov around 1.40pm. While I had to wait a bit due to the lunch crowd, props to the abang who was singlehandedly cooking and plating the food. He was bustling about the kitchen, but the food was plated carefully and tasted good.
The service crew here was just super nonchalant and one who was just very inflexible and impatient. We went in at around 5.15pm. 2 adults and a 1yr old baby. We found ourselves a corner seat, took out baby’s utensils and wet wipes and settled down and placed baby stroller right beside our chairs. The restaurant only had 1 other table (2 pax) taken and the rest were empty. My husband ordered and was waiting to pick up food at the front counter. One of the service crew (auntie) came to me and told me to push and park the stroller outside of the restaurant… there was literally no one else in the area we were sitting. Even the 2 pax table was like at other end of the restaurant. But.. i said okay anyway. I was sitting alone with my baby and i could not leave her alone at the seat to push the stroller out. So we ordered 3 servings = 3 trays of food. After my husband took the first tray of food back to the table, the auntie approached him and repeated the same instructions… no patience at all.. couldn’t she wait till we took all of our food? Plus it wasn’t urgent at all since there was literally no one else coming in the restaurant. 😓 Oh, the service crew at the counter was also nonchalant. No smile, nothing. This i don’t mind but maybe a smile? I was just upset by the auntie’s action and impatience cause there is literally no need to be cause the restaurant was so so quiet. Tables were dirty.. crumbs everywhere, rice that dried up and stuck to the table. Food was okay.
A PSA shoutout. Since start of year 2026, notice that the portion has been consistently reduced compared to 2024 to 2025. Ever since the Triple 3x promotion during start of Jan 2026 year with 'free promo drink' , the serving size has been constantly much lesser by roughly 50%, especially in my last 3 buys. Been a regular diner at OTH Yoshinoya, eating out roughly once per 1.5 weeks. Gave store outlet a few chances, thinking it may be due to mistakes or variation of employees. At this point. Don't think so. It's clearly a deliberate company decision to reduce serving portions for the meals. #Inflation #Shrinkflation. A PSA shoutout. Personally, I will skip Yoshinoya for the next half a year. IF and when I have craving for Gyudon, I will just shop for the equivalent portion but cheaper by $4++ from Don Don Donki -- Reheat boil water, cook rice or just buy $0.70 for a faster, cheaper, fairer meal satisfaction .. in 2026.
