I wanted to try ayam penyet and had my opportunity to taste at Uncle Penyet Bukit Merah food court. I had the ayam panggang set. It came with a good size chicken leg. The chicken had fairly crispy skin which added a nice texture. Chicken gravy was poured on the rice upon request and there was some salad, cherry tomato and 3 slices of cucumber at the side. The chili at the side looked spicy but it was not. It was sweet. I would have preferred this dish to be more spicier as how you will find it in Indonesia. The greens added a healthy addition and were fresh. Overall, the dish was not bad but not great. Price was reasonable at SGD6.80 and portion was enough. Food court was clean and had sufficient space during lunch.
Nasi Lemak w 1 wing + 1 fried egg ($3.80) Spicy Lemongrass chicken leg rice ($5.80) Ayam Penyet ($6.80) Bebek Penyet (duck) ($8.80) Ayam Panggang (Grilled Chicken) ($6.80) Extra chilli (50 cents) !! BIG Chicken, Udang Prawns, and fried egg may not be fresh and have off taste. Staff unwilling to replace. Unhygienic - someone saw a raw item dropped onto wet floor picked up for immediate frying. No more soup.
I bought beef bakso with rice take away and the staff working there forgot to put my chilli in it I bought this food just for the chilli as the food will taste better with the chilli because of the staff who forgot to put my chilli the whole taste of the food went away and I my mood spoil and I was not interested to eat the food anymore so I have to throw the food away just because of the staff this is not the first time they do like that if I order any food they will forgot to give something in it and spoil the whole food taste the staff should improve themselves and from my point of view this shop do not even deserve one star. I really hope they can improve themselves and do better.
