Customized my extra large bento with salmon teriyaki for $15.80. Salmon teriyaki : average Side highlight: Wafu pasta Glazed edamame Amount for money: poor Salmon was average, pretty hard and dry itself, only moist due to the sauce. Which sort of saved it. Wafu pasta while slightly salty has a nice bite to it and gives that soba feel when slurped. It was quite nice. Glazed edamame was sweet and i really like that honey note to it. I picked the recommended 7 slides i would say some are niche picks. Like carrot&daikon plus pickled lotus are sour so if your want appetizer kinda starter they make good choice. While mixed greens are just cabbages not sure why it is the recommend. Overall this is rather unique and healthy but pricing wise it is quite steep with some nice sides and passable main.
Finally I walk in to try Toriten on a quiet Saturday for lunch as I walked passed often thinking of the eating tables facing outside feel alittle discomfort, nevertheless today I tried the beef stew bento set the steed beef was ok maybe can be slightly softer will be great & sauce fantastic that I ask for another scop of rice cos taste yummy 😋. Yuzhu drink also taste good.. I recommend those walk pass...don't skip come into Toriten to try different bento set or make your own meals. A quiet environment on a Saturday afternoon with staffs very humble patience to explain & suggestions.
A hidden gem in Novena! Tried the Salmon Teriyaki Bento and was seriously impressed with crispy skin, juicy meat, and super flavourful. Also loved the DIY bowl with Yuzu Chicken was refreshing and light, perfect for a healthier lunch option. The takoyaki was golden on the outside and creamy inside with real octopus bits so good! Staff were friendly, ingredients felt fresh, and the free water refill is such a thoughtful touch. Prices are reasonable, and the variety makes it easy to mix things up each visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality Japanese fusion meals that don’t break the bank!
