First time trying thunder tea rice (擂茶). Actually I was more interested in their yong tau foo but they only offer plain/brown rice to go with it , a bit too dry for me. So I order the 擂茶, at least have a bit of soup . The bowl came layered with finely chopped cabbage, spinach, pickled radish, tofu bits and roasted peanuts. This is accompanied by a green tea soup made by pounding tea leaves with aromatics such as basil, mint, and mugwort. Being a first time noob , I drizzled my bowl with the soup sparingly, just enough to wet the rice. Their yong tau foo at $1.50 a piece wasn't cheap but the filling was extremely generous, I've never seen such a big heap of stuffing! Each piece was filled with pork laden with salted fish and ti por. #yongtaufoo #thundertearice #擂茶

This stall specialises in Hakka Thunder Tea Rice. Thunder tea rice is a Hakka dish and is touted as a healthy dish, as it is low in fat and high in fiber. It draws a constant stream of customers. You have a choice of white or brown rice, which costs $5.50. I ordered the brown rice version and it was topped with a medley of fried chopped vegetables - spinach, long beans, cabbage, pickled radish, tofu, peanuts and toasted sesame seeds. It came with a bowl of herbaceous soup, where they scooped a ladle of green purée (blend of basil, mint, coriander and tea leaves) and added hot water. They also hand-make their yong tau foo items, including bittergourd, brinjal, beancurd, beancurd skin and shiitake mushroom. They will batch make to ensure freshness and deep-dry the items. You can make your selection from the glass case at the stall. Each piece cost $1.30. I had the beancurd and brinjal yong tau foo. They are good! My meal costs $8.10. Food is tasty and delicious! Recommended! 😋👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Very clean and spacious hawker. $8 for brown rice thunder tea + 2pcs yong toufu. The thunder tea come with a lot of peanuts and vege. I like to pour in the green soup and enjoy the wholesome flavourful herbal taste of thunder tea. Yong toufu is a good large pcs with fish paste and deep fried. Ordered the tau pok type to absorb soup for savour at once.
