Dhal Vadai ($1.20) from The Original Vadai Freshly fried till golden brown, the vadai had a crispy exterior with a flavour packed lentil centre. The chana dhal gave it a lovely coarse texture while the onions, herbs, and spices added so much aroma and savouriness. It was light, crunchy, and dangerously easy to finish in a few bites. No wonder this local snack remains such a timeless pasar malam favourite.
If you’re passing by Woodlands MRT, The Original Vadai at #01-28 is a must-stop. This is easily one of the best vadai around. Bite into it and you’re greeted by the fragrance of freshly deep-fried prawns—crispy, aromatic, and utterly satisfying, especially if it’s just out of the pot. The prawns are fresh, making every mouthful delicious. Then comes the chilli: bright, aromatic, with just enough heat to deliver a punch without overwhelming. Pair it with a refreshing coconut juice, and you’ve got a simple, perfect local snack moment.
Disappointed and shocked 1pc vadai with flour only. No prawn. Wasted $1.30 for the flour. Only knew about it when reach home.
