I first tried this shop many years ago, around 2002, before I was married. At that time, the taste was good but quite normal to me, and I wasn’t really into beef noodles yet. In 2016, after I got married, I decided to try the beef noodles here again. One of the Malaysian Malay staff recommended adding a little fish sauce to enhance the flavour. I followed her suggestion, and that completely changed everything. From that day on, I became addicted. When the beef noodles are served with fresh basil leaves, they are absolutely delicious and the flavour really stands out. That basil aroma is what makes the dish special to me, and it’s the main reason I keep coming back. This has become my all-time favourite food, and I will go out of my way to eat here, even if it’s far. However, on days when basil leaves are not available and they are replaced with daun sup (Chinese celery), I honestly feel quite disappointed because the taste just isn’t the same for me. Nowadays, whenever I visit, I will always ask if basil leaves are available. If yes, I will order the beef noodles. If it’s celery, I will usually order the Pad Thai instead.

Ordered the beef pad thai for $8.50, which I thought was alright for the portion (don’t understand why people are complaining about this) Fortunately there wasn’t much of a queue and within 10 mins, I received my food. Very different from the usual pad thais I get elsewhere in a good way. Beefy with a bit of tanginess from the pad thai sauce. Beef chunks were tender and flavourful. The stall is run by Thais, so it should be authentic and the lady serving us could speak Malay. Overall, I enjoyed the food very much and I’m happy with the price. Will definitely return to try the beef noodle and fried rice! Halal certified

$9 beef noodles was pretty decent - the former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra has visited this namesake stall and dined here before too
