I came here for the soft opening and was so happy to finally be able to eat real Indonesian nasi Padang that i’m used to. The rendang was deep with coconut flavor, smoky and on the dry side. It’s the kind of flavor you know will always be consistent at an Indonesian nasi Padang restaurant. That’s exactly what Sederhana is too, it’s rasa sederhana - it’s not mind blowing but it’s not horrible either because it’s a safe bet. We go there knowing its going be be safe and good. I had nothing bad to say about the first say it was delicious and it tasted like Sederhana in Indonesia. FYI: I came around 9am they just opened and I was the only one in the queue. No rush, no stress, no room for mistakes? So naturally I wanted to come back. I ordered alot of things separated and one normal nasi bungkus. I honestly don’t know how the price was calculated because my receipt wasn’t transparent but I paid about 26$ for: ayam pop, rendang, daun singkong, 1 telur gulai, 2 keropok kulit, 2 nasi, extra gulai sauce(which was like 1tbsp of sauce btw). If you can work out the receipt let me know cuz I have no idea but I don’t mins paying if the food is gonna be goooooood. I opened up my nasi bungkus and found it was dry…. No gulai poured ontop. Nasi padang rice is not supposed to be white. Benefit of the doubt, maybe they forgot? When I tasted the rendang my heart dropped. This was not indonesian rendang. This was malay rendang and not even a good one. It was sweet, it wasn’t flavorful and it tasted very bloody/irony like it wasn’t cleaned properly. It’s only been a week, what happened? I sincerely hope the team will take this feedback into consideration because what I tasted on the first day was phenomenal. However if this is the quality now, there’s much better rendangs just a stonesthrow away like at Sabar Menanti which are definitely more worth it.

Restoran Sederhana’s first Singapore outlet at Kampong Glam on North Bridge Road is an Indonesian nasi padang eatery where a late-afternoon visit coincided with limited remaining dishes. The visit highlights a second-floor air-conditioned dining area with mini lift access, alongside mixed impressions of the nasi padang dishes and pricing. Overall experience is lukewarm and may improve on return visit when more dishes are available.

The best Indonesian food in Singapore, by far! Every dish is packed with authentic flavours that truly remind you of Indonesia. The Ayam Pop and Dendeng Belado absolutely live up to the hype, rich, delicious and truly authentic. After trying the food, it’s easy to understand why people are willing to queue for it. Even though queue was long, the warm hospitality of the staff there makes the wait easier. Thank you for bringing Sederhana to Singapore. We’ll definitely be back!
