Subway in Chinatown Singapore is quite a good option if you need a quick, convenient meal while exploring this bustling area. I dropped by the Subway in Chinatown when I needed a place to rest, escape the hot and humid weather, and grab a light bite before continuing my walk around. The space here isn’t very big but it’s tidy, with clean tables and chairs and air conditioning, which is definitely a plus in the busy and sometimes stuffy Chinatown. The staff are friendly, prepare the sandwiches quickly, and are willing to help you choose toppings if you’re not familiar with ordering at Subway. What I like about Subway is the familiar menu that’s easy to pick from you can choose from sandwiches with chicken, beef, tuna, or even a fresh salad if you prefer something lighter. The vegetables, sauces, and other toppings here are quite fresh, and the bread is always toasted warm and crispy, so it’s tasty even though it’s still fast food. The price is of course a bit higher than some local street food dishes nearby, but in return you get a full, balanced meal that’s not too greasy and you can customize it to your taste. If you’ve already tried all the local Chinese specialties in Chinatown and want to change things up a bit or you just need a quick meal to save time getting around then Subway is a reasonable choice. It’s convenient, familiar, with air-conditioned seating just right for recharging before continuing your adventure through the vibrant corners of Chinatown Singapore.
I ordered a toast, but it clearly wasn’t toasted at all. I also noticed the wrapping paper had turned yellow, which makes me suspect it was toasted with the white wrapper still on, something I’ve never seen before. The vegetables were once again lacking, significantly less than usual. I genuinely don’t understand how this meal cost over $20. The other 6-inch was chicken thigh, but the portion was small and the presentation was sloppy. I can’t help but feel that the quality of ingredients I'm receiving has been intentionally downgraded, especially since I’ve raised concerns before. If this is how Subway handles customer feedback, then I’m truly disappointed. To the Chinatown Point staff, this was a really poor job. Please consider how you’d feel if treated the same way. I don’t expect much to change, but at least let it be known how you’ve chosen to treat your customers.
Lovely customer service at this branch! The staff was very friendly and helpful when I enquired about vegan options and if the patty contained dairy/eggs. They also seem to be chilled out as they were gathered as a team at the kitchen after serving. The ambience is in between a bustling diner and a quiet bistro. You get the best of both worlds as people walk by but there’s moments of quiet in in the in-between. The sub was delicious and expertly presented. Kudos to the team!! I’d love to revisit. Here’s hoping all Subway branches list out comprehensively the allergens present in their products right next to the counter so customers can make informed decisions. *Side note: Make sure servers change gloves in between serving the salad items and meats
