Fresh and delicious steamed fish! Portion is pretty huge for the price, it comes with steamed egg as well. The only downside is that the sauce is slightly salty.
Was told the rest of the fish dishes sold out (on a Sunday night) so only the whole fish was available. Ordered suan cai soup base at $29.90 including the so-called four side dishes which were added into the pot with the fish to heat up—potato slices, wong bok cabbage, fried & boiled bean curd skins, and luncheon meat— and 2 rice. 1) the whole fish did not taste fresh and feels flat maciam "buey buey" in hokkien - it was fried before adding it to the soup. 😔 2) the potato slices tasted bland without the potato fragrance - wonder what type of kantang they used! 😔😔 3) mediocre luncheon meat quality 😔😔😔 I was excited to try their fishes but were met with these disappointments 😔😔😔 Realising after finishing the food, there are 2 more stalls selling whole fishes (SG Chinese steamboat style and Malay/cina style). So you'll just visit this stall if you want China flavours such as mala and sushi cai fish dishes which I supposed it's popular among the younger folks. 😂
Ordered HK steamed fish king grouper head but got back home to realise I got asam head seabass fish instead. Taste wise is okay but the eggplant is under cooked. Pls compensate the difference that I was shortchanged!
