The Hokkien Po 福建婆I visited on Lunar New Year's first day and thoroughly enjoyed the 2-person combo! The stir-fried Kangkong, clear Tom Yum chicken soup, and deep-fried seabass with Thai mango salad were all superb and perfectly portioned for us. The service was so attentive and prompt too!
Ars 3276Overall, the food was far too bland. It definitely didn’t taste like authentic Thai — the usual spice, punch and depth just weren’t there. I was quite surprised when I asked for extra spicy and was told it wasn’t possible because their spice level is standardised, and I should add my own chilli instead. That already says a lot. Across the dishes we ordered, none really impressed us. I think it comes down to the lack of spice and intensity. Thai food should be bold — this wasn’t. The Curry Beef was probably the only decent dish. The Tom Yum soup was honestly a mehhh — very disappointing. Service-wise, it was also uncomfortable. Staff started clearing our table while we were still seated, even though there was no long queue or crowd. One of the staff’s hands was literally right in front of my face while clearing — way too close for comfort. What if something spilled on us? Just felt weird, rushed, and unnecessary But not a big issue as perhaps they just wanted to clean the tables.
Richard Tan13 December 2025, 8.00pm We've been on the lookout for a new Thai restaurant since Soi47 suddenly closed down a few months ago. Sanook Kitchen is one of the newer F&B outlets following the recent renovation of City Square Mall. Located in the atrium on the second floor, it sits among several other eateries and features an open-concept dining area that feels casual and welcoming. The service staff were very friendly and hardworking and very, very efficient. It was a very busy evening and we watched them seat diners, serve food and turnover tables at astonishing speed. Once in a while, they would be stopped for a request which they responded to within minutes. We like that they offer self-serve free-flow of drinking water infused with lemon slices, and popcorn (which was finished by the time we arrived). We ordered the "Fin-tastic Red Tom Yum Fish Delight" sharing meal ($33.90, serves two) which features Homemade Prawn Cake (4 pieces), Red Tom Yum Fish Soup, Mixed Vegetables with Mushrooms, Minced Chicken with Thai Basil, served with two plates of fragrant rice. Service was very fast, with hot dishes appearing in quick succession. Dishes were very authentic and flavourful (albeit a little salty) and definitely enough for the three of us. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience - we have found our new Thai hangout!
