AFAIK the sole halal-only cafeteria in NTU campus and due to its central location, it's always crowded during lunch time (but less so during dinner hours). Some stalls often have super long queue, especially the Korean food and the economic rice. The economic rice stall sells one unique item that is rarely found in other similar places, namely scallion pancake (蔥油餅). This particular item is overwhelmingly popular among foreign students from Northern Chinese origin, who are accustomed with wheat-based staples instead of rice. It used to be even better and flakier, but the chef in charge of the pancake reportedly resigned in late 2025. This item is still there, just not as fantastic as it used to be. Another unique stall in the cafeteria is the stir-fried yong tau fu stall. The item isn't particularly cheap compared to the rest of the stalls and even compared to the typical conventional yong tau fu. Aside from the aforementioned economic rice stall, there's another one but seems to be of central China style. Most of the dishes are spicier and with healthy dose of ma la added. They also serve dumpling and liang pi, although I found their dumpling is inferior to others in the campus (for example, the one in South Spine Canteen). Maybe dumplings with thick skin isn't really my cup of tea. The phở-and-banh mi stall is less popular but still pretty good. The chicken and beef phở are always nice to have in cool and damp rainy season. The zi char stall offers quite economical and sumptuous fried rice ($4), which is a godsend for many broke students in the campus.

My family had the chicken minced meat with string beans and also creamy chicken rice from Joy Kitchen and felt that it was below average. Many items were not available, example the Kale or Cabbage so in the end got these two. Ended up we could not finish either as both tastes bland. For the creamy chicken, there wasn't much cream and tasted mainly spicy thus for those who dont really take chilli, you may be surprised as the picture dont really depict that its really spicy. As for the minced meat rice, it was alot of string beans but not much meat. So in the end, just felt that for that price, it was not worth it for the food quality we got. Atmosphere wise, guess, its a chill hang out for students and sort of hidden as its in the basement. And the server at least was friendly though.
