ZokWe were in the area and just wanted somewhere to eat a casual dinner in air con, that's when we chanced upon this place. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, crispy omelette, and crispy chicken cutlet. Good: - the crispy omelette is probably one of the best I've ever had. It was crispy and fluffy, so much so that the oily part at the bottom of the plate is simply forgiven. - the crispy chicken cutlet was well seasoned and had enough gravy and greens to go with it - the pineapple fried rice was good but wasn't fantastic - the prices were fairly affordable, and their portions weren't small either Not great: - their homemade barley tasted a little odd to me. Perhaps it's thai styled while I'm used to the Chinese way of cooking barley water? This is simply a personal preference.

While walking around the mall, I saw a Thai restaurant promotion: Lunch Set $9.90, available from Monday to Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. It reminded me of something from the past. There used to be a Soi Thai Soi Nice outlet at The Seletar Mall. I used to go there before, and I really liked their food. The taste, the comfort, and the simple joy of eating there stayed in my memory. But over time, that outlet closed. Later, even the City Hall outlet also closed down. I missed their food. That day at JEM, I decided to try their newer version of the restaurant under the Pratunam concept. I ordered the Runny Omelette Chicken Cutlet Curry Rice Set. When the food arrived, it looked familiar in a way. The crispy chicken cutlet, the soft runny omelette, and the curry sauce brought back memories of the old meals I used to enjoy. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it felt close enough to remind me of those days. There was also tom yum soup and papaya salad on the side, making it a full meal for $9.90. As I ate, I thought about how places change. Restaurants close, move, or rebrand, but the memories of the food don’t really disappear. They stay in small moments like this. After finishing my meal, I rated it 4 out of 5. The food was good, and the value was worth it, but more than that, it gave me a feeling of remembering something I missed. It wasn’t just lunch. Daryn LeauDespite reading some bad reviews. Decided to give it a try. Ordered meal set for two. Additional steam fish and mango sticky rice for dessert. The portion for the set of two was decent and delicious. Fish was fresh. Mango sticky rice is nice. Overall good was flavory and price is reasonable. Will patronize again.
