Gem caiStaff was courteous and efficient. However the bakes are saccharine sweet. I got the brownie some time back as it looks good on display but was disappointed that it tasted artificially sweet and dry. Was enticed by their display again last weekend and got the snow pear crumble, again, it has a nauseating sweetness to it. Very little pear bits. Lots of floury crumbles and a very dry cake sponge within. Definitely don’t recommend. I guess only their OG Swiss rolls are palatable.
Cynthia AdelineThe cakes here are pretty and appealing to kids. However, they are rather sweet and not very kind to one's health. The selection here is limited and not very creative. The savoury puffs score better for me. The otah puffs are delicious. The pastry is light and crisp. Service wise, not too bad. Give a 'Like' if you like this honest review.
Bob LuPolar has a history of almost 100 years old since its inception at Hill Street on 30th November 1925 by an immigrant from Hong Kong to Singapore named Chan Hinky. While in Singapore in the early 1920s, he had only 90 cents in his pocket and made enough to open his first cafe in 1925 that was frequented by lawyers, judges and politicians. It had also survived World War 2 from 1942-1945. It has 30 outlets todate. The swiss rolls tasted as usual like before and my daughter bought it from Polar Puffs & Cakes North Point at Yishun.
