The shio pan looked beautiful with a lovely golden crust and a soft, fluffy interior. Unfortunately, the taste did not quite match the appearance. It lacked the buttery aroma and crispy bottom that I usually expect from a good shio pan. The texture and flavor were closer to a regular bread roll rather than the rich, slightly salty Japanese-style shio pan I was hoping for. At around $3 per piece, I feel the price is on the higher side, especially when compared to similar offerings from other local bakeries and larger chains. Given the quality and taste, the value proposition could be improved. Overall, it’s still a decent bread, but if you’re looking for a classic shio pan experience, this may leave you wanting more. I hope the bakery can continue to refine and improve the recipe, as the appearance and presentation definitely show a lot of promise.
I had such a fantastic experience at On'Lee Artisan Bakery! 🤩 The sourdough is absolutely my favorite. It’s my second visit, and the family-friendly atmosphere, especially with small kids, is wonderful. We even celebrated our son's birthday here last weekend! 🥳🎉 Highly recommend! ✨
I have been a regular customer here for about a year, mainly for their sourdough bread and it is quite expensive for the portion. Unfortunately, my recent visit was disappointing. The price tag for the classic ciabatta was displayed as $4.40, but I was charged $4.80 at the cashier. When I questioned this, I was told it was due to a price change, yet the displayed price had not been updated. Counter staff had a bit of an attitude. This lack of transparency felt unprofessional and misleading. Given that the bread is already on the pricier side, this experience was particularly disappointing. I have since found a better alternative at Paul Cafe, value for money.
