Years ago when I was working around the area, the Nasi Padang stall on the 2nd floor was my go to comfort food. Since I was around the area for a meeting, I decided to drop by for a taste of nostalgia. Boy, Shenton House sure has changed since the noughties! I did not see the Nasi Padang shop so I just walked around and noticed this stall within Olive's. My guess is the vendor just rented a stall space from Olive's. There was only a small selection of food but it was sedap! I polished off every grain of rice that was soaked in that savoury sayur lodeh gravy. All for $5 which, given today's cost of living and considering they are in the CBD, is a steal. On a separate note though. If anyone knows where the original stall owners of the 2nd floor Nasi Padang shop has moved to, please share their current location.
For what you pay, this western food is pretty good. They cook in batches but since the turn over is really fast, the food is warm when they pick it up and serve you. Not much selections on the sides if by around 1245. Ate in as the crowd moves fast and there’ll eventually be a table. Not good for groups larger than 4.
Delicious affordable western & nasi padang place in CBD 😋 They are VERY generous with their portions!! Best thing is you can choose any sides you want for western. (Favourite is the mash potato, very soft) Price: Less than $10!! Worth it! Do support them as its not easy finding affordable halal food in CBD! :) I'm a regular!! 😋
