My experiences purchasing here have always been positive until today. I came across a new item called Salted Egg Tater Tots and told the staff that I wanted “tater tots.” Before making payment, I realized I had been given a different item. That was when I found out there are actually two types of tater tots available. I then clarified that I wanted the Salted Egg Tater Tots, but the Malay staff criticized me for not specifically mentioning “salted egg.” As a customer, I wasn’t aware that there were two different versions. I don’t work at Old Chang Kee, so how would I know? Am I expected to study the ENTIRE MENU or hold up the queue just to go through EVERY SINGLE variation? Since staff are more familiar with the menu than customers, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to clarify which version I wanted instead of blaming me for not being specific? I didn’t want to argue or create a scene, but she criticized me twice over this, which made the experience very unpleasant.
I have no idea why but this outlet is always kinda mid to me, like the fried food always feels so soggy instead of crunchy, excellent service from the ladies tho Compass one is better if u have the time to go there … HITS DIFFERENT!
This outlet just rcently opened and they have a new way of ordering which is not unlike before. You order and pay on a kiosk/ordering machine similar to what is at mcdonalds. It is ok but the speed of the queue would depend on the speed on the person ahead of you which is more often than not, dilly dolly while ordering. Staff i have encountered so far are not friendly or out and out rude. anyway back to my 1st point above which is the new ordering system. Yesterday night, (04 April 2023) I go order 3 chicken wings and 2 sotong heads on stick.. normally on other branches when you order, you can see your item being prepared then you go and pay at the counter. on this outlet.. you order and wait for your qqq to be called.. Apparently the person who prepared my order didnt nother to check the correct order and just put inside 2 chicken wings and 2 sotong heads on stick and wrap it nicely.. I never bothered to check it right there thinking they are professional enough not to make a simple mistake.. Only managed to find out when i went back home to supposedly enjoy my meal realizing the one who prepared my order only put inside 2 chicken wings (instead of 3 as I ordered) and 2 sotong heads on stick. Going back to complain there would be a hassle as its a few bus stop away from my residence.. Anyway, not going to patronize this outlet again.. Really poor service.
