We ordered the Char Kway Teow, Sambal Stingray, and Chicken Wings during our visit. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chicken wings. They were flavourful, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the Char Kway Teow fell short of expectations. It was missing the all-important wok hei (wok-fired aroma) that gives a good Char Kway Teow its distinctive character and depth of flavour. The Sambal Stingray was also disappointing. While the sambal itself was acceptable, the fish lacked the grilled flavour that makes this dish special. It felt more like the sambal had simply been placed on top of the stingray rather than being properly grilled together to allow the flavours to blend. Singapore has many excellent hawker stalls and seafood places serving these same dishes, and based on our experience, there are plenty of other places that do them much better. Overall, the chicken wings were good, but the Char Kway Teow and Sambal Stingray did not live up to our expectations.

Came here to have the Chili Crab that is famous. The portion and quantity was good but honestly we can't compare it to others as this is the only place we have had the chilly crab. The chilly crab cost was $50 which we felt was a fair price. But honestly we don't know how much other hawker Street vendors charge. They provide you with gloves to comfortably eat York, chilly crab. They have a fairly large menu with a variety of dishes to choose from. The pricing seems fairly reasonable. The staff was helpful enough to break the crab and give it to us and the service was pretty fast. We didn't have to wait a very long time. Taste wise the chili crab was fairly good, but coming from an Indian background especially go and Portuguese, we have had more tasty and delicious crab meals. But since we were here in Singapore and this apparently is one of the must try dishes we have to go for it. It wasn't disappointing but it wasn't that great.

Located to the south of Lau Pa Sat there are some very strong and aggressive uncles and aunties sent out to get business. The moment you hover around this area they will already come up to you. Luckily we actually wanted chilli crab. The annoying thing was that the menu showed one price but when we were charged we got stung another $10 more, typical tourist scams. The food was good but we saw some uncles and aunties scolding and telling other people not to sit at some tables but the thing is, they do not own these tables and are open for all to use.
