I don't usually provide negative feedback unless warranted. Check my reviews. I was a customer of Mari Mari, back even when they were at Blk 182, Woodlands St 13/St 11. They were still pretty good. Things have taken a turn for the worse recently. Now, I feel that potential customers should know where (NOT) to spend your money. In short, don't eat at Mari Mari, unless you like to waste your hard-earned money and have horrible time with family and friends. This food eatablishment simply just don't have the chef and/or people skills to make your meal experience a good one. Our CNY eve dinner was totally ruined today (16 Feb). The soon hock fish was so over-fried (too much fire and for too long a duration) and dry, that fish lovers among us at the table tried to consume but had to give up trying to eat the fish. This dish is something that even the most novice zhi char chef should never mess up this bad. A feedback to the male boss resulted in a ”会注意” response with no service recovery whatsoever. None. It was totally unacceptable for a F&B service on a festive day, or any day for that matter. Seriously, it was horrible. Please, do yourself a favour. Avoid at all cost. That poor fish - died in vain. The elderly folks at the table were displeased with the fish. Again, to provide a chance for recovery of service, I asked for a token discount off the bill. I don't expect a full refund of the fish, since we sort of ate some of it to discover how horrible it was. The owner guy laughed like it was a joke. Novestine, it was never about the money, it was about recovering the experience and make it a better outcome for both parties. It was the attitude that was repulsive. Sorry bro, that's not how you do business.

We visited on Chinese New Year night and ordered a few dishes. Most of the food was fine, although the Salted Egg Sotong was quite chewy. At payment, we were asked if we had been informed about a $10 surcharge. We were not told beforehand, and if we had known, we might not have ordered from them. The cashier said she would waive the surcharge, but it was still keyed into the bill. When we asked, she said it was not charged. I’m fine with festive surcharges, but customers should be informed clearly in advance. There was no need to say it was waived if it was still added to the bill.

Boss of Mari Mari Novestine is a friendly and creative guy in food. We enjoyed every dishes he recommended at a reasonable price. One special dish - Kampong chicken in 2 way cook was juicy and flavourful. Will definitely come again.
