Florence Leow🟢 Lee Wee & Brothers 2 Orchard Turn, # B4-72 ION Orchard ( kiosk) Singapore 238801 🟦 To me, this is the best Otak-Otak in Singapore.● My hubby and I have been buying the spicy Lee Wee Mackeral Fish Otak-Otak countless times over the long years ever since they opened their first shop. ⬛️ We usually buy them from Ion Mall as we live in Toa Payoh town.🟨 It is quicker/ nearer for us to go to Ion mall by the train. 🟪 We usually takeaway aka dapao 12 to 20 pieces of the large Banana Leaf otak-otak ( ➖️ to eat with rice during dinner time.) 🟠 Today, as usual, I ordered 12 sticks of the Banana Leaf Mackeral Fish Otak-Otak priced at SGD1.90 per stick (🟩 it is a bigger leaf wrap). ✳️ Had to wait for 15 to 20 mins for the otak-otak to be freshly grilled. 🟥 Otak-otak in Malay really means "brains". 🟥This spicy fish cake is named as "Otak otak" --- because when cooked or grilled, the otak meat and texture resembles mushy fish brains, thus, the name, Otak-Otak. 🟦 As I was raised in a Peranakan Cina household, I was taught how to pronounce Malay words correctly. 🟦Bahasa Melayu was also my 3rd language in school. ➡️ The "otah-otah" name that we see now is a mangled term used by the local Chinese.
