We arrived just before closing time, but the auntie was kind enough to still accommodate us and prepare our order for takeaway. The service alone left a great impression. At $4 per roll, the popiah was absolutely worth it. The portion was generous, packed with filling, and incredibly satisfying. Most importantly, it was delicious! I’m glad we managed to stop by before they closed and would definitely come back for more on my next visit.
Tried their popiah for the first time. After a 15–20 minute wait, I was initially impressed. The $4 price point is very reasonable once you see the generous portion size. The radish was juicy and sweet, and the rolls were packed with prawns and crispy bits. Even though we asked for 'less spicy,' the chili still had a real kick. However, the experience was cut short when I found a strand of curly hair embedded under the popiah skin. It was quite a turn-off. Given the long preparation process, I really wish the staff would wear hair nets to prevent this. It’s a shame because the food itself tasted great, but hygiene is a major concern.
Enjoyable ways of family and friends bonding by knowing your food creators in Singapore like KGH Joo Chiat Popiah. Love the simple yet delicious way of making own Peranakan popiah and kway pie tee filling. Thank you Michael and team for sharing the importance of preserving this popiah legacy. We really enjoyed it on a happy Sunday.
