Barista was kind and friendly, made a good Teh Siew Dai. But, the lady manning the food service is questionable. Let the picture of the “soft boil eggs” speak for itself. It’s hardened. I went to her and asked her about it and she said in a deadpan manner “all the eggs are like this”. That’s it. So I said I cannot accept this standard and gave her the same stare back. She then said she will make new eggs again. The second batch was undercooked and at this point I gave up and accepted it. Now reading other reviews, it’s clear it’s the same woman. She needs serious retraining.
The chocolate egg tart is delicious. The soft pudding filling, complemented by rich chocolate on top, has a nice texture contrast with the impeccably crispy crust.
AVOID! Better for this establishment to go out of business because they don't deserve to be in the service line with the staff they hire. Just as other reviewers have mentioned, there is a famous "tudung" lady (tudung = headscarf) and by 4.30pm, she starts fantasizing about knocking off. We were there at the counter before 5pm and this lady was just staring blankly with her back facing the order counter. It almost felt as if we were violating her private daydream time by getting her attention to take our order. Everything we tried to order, she rudely said, "No, don't have". Ended up having my coffee and pastry elsewhere. There are many choices and a food court just up the escalator so don't be rude like me... I do apologise for interrupting this lady's daydream moment where a rich handsome sultan could be courting her. After finishing my pastry and coffee from a neighbouring establishment, I walked past this shop and found the staff scrubbing the floors. Not even 5.30pm and your staff are closing up 1 hour before the stated closing time. Lots of pies and egg tarts left in the display because your staff hate working so much that they seem so eager to clean up and go home early. Well, there's always tomorrow to serve the stale food to unsuspecting customers who don't read reviews, right?
