I seldom give one-star reviews. But this eatery was poor in both service and food. I reached the eatery at 7.57 am. There was partial lighting so I was unsure whether I could start ordering. I enquired at the counter, whether the store was open. The lady at the counter silently pointed to a signage behind her which stated the operating hours (8 am onwards) and returned to swiping her handphone. During order, the same lady had the same black face as before. The process was all rather unpleasant. Minutes later, when our party’s food arrived, we were also disappointed with the quality of the chwee kueh and yam kueh. Toast was also slightly burnt, and there was no visible butter on the Kaya. It could have been such a tiny amount that it had melted against the Kaya.
So far my experience has been great. Tables & seats are clean. Coffees are not diluted. Today I had meesiam beef, I think it's an interesting combination. Portion is quite generous. Beef tendons are cooked till very soft. Soup base is not too sweet. They also gave 1 whole egg for the noodle. I will definitely come back for more.
Tried mee rebus, the gravy was a bit watery. Taste wise was ok. Quite typical, nothing that great or bad. Anyway it's pretty obvious this isn't the kind of place to come for excellent food, it's just a place to fill your tummy. It isn't even cheap at $5.90.
