.: : ::: - Visited Hjh Maimunah Restaurant & Catering for a hearty Nasi Padang feast. The spread behind the glass is impressive—rendang, sambal goreng, fried chicken and vegetables all look fresh and get replenished quickly. Staff move fast and are helpful despite the crowd, though peak hours mean a short queue and limited time to browse. Seating is bright, clean and comfortable, with a slightly cafeteria vibe. Don’t skip the kueh selection and iced drinks; they’re great add-ons after spicy mains. Prices feel fair for portion size. I’ll gladly return. Go early if you want the widest choice, especially for popular dishes. 😊👍🏻✨✨✨
This is one of the best places for nasi padang in Singapore. The variety of dishes is pretty wide, more than you’ll find elsewhere. The quality of cooking is top notch. The place is a bit bland and it can get very crowded.
Hjh Maimunah in Singapore is an Indonesian nasi padang restaurant, not a Malaysian restaurant as described. Both the Jalan Pisang and Joo Chiat branches offer absolutely delectable food, self selected from a vast array of chicken, beef and seafood dishes. The portions are then handed to you and after selecting the sambals or chili sauces to go with your selections, you ask for white rice and after picking up your drinks, you then take your tray upstairs, sit down and help yourself to a scrumptious, reasonably priced meal. The dining space is busy with customers enjoying their food but, even at peak meal times, you are likely to find a seat. Our party of four ordered a lot of food and there were leftovers to take home. Favorites included: curry chicken, beef rendang, asam pedas sting ray, cuttle fish cooked in red sauce with a huge deep fried bean curd cube, bean sprouts ... too many to list ... the food is savory but not at all spicy. The chicken curry is cooked in a rich coconut based sauce. The beef rendang has been cooked for hours in another rich spice-laden coconut based sauce and is fork tender. There were many options we did not have the chance to explore ... grilled chicken, grilled fish, noodles ... go with a large group to share Maimunah's diverse offerings. Well worth the trip to 20 Joo Chiat Road.
