I found GyoGyo Japanese Grilled Fish & Sukiyaki at Funan Mall to be a solid halal option with decent value overall. The meal was satisfying, and while nothing especially stood out in terms of flavor, the selection was good enough for a casual lunch or dinner. Service felt fine too, and the staff came across as pleasant.
This Halal-Certified place was a pleasant surprise especially in a mall that offers many similar cuisines. The specialise in Grilled Fish and it did not disappoint! The Mero fish we did was properly GRILLED in banana leaf. The char grill flavour was prominent paired with a delicate sauce. The prawn rolls were also very enjoyable much like the Teochew dish Hei Zor (Prawn Dates). The service was very friendly and we were even offered chilli sauce to take away because we enjoyed it so much. Wishing they would bottle and sell their chilli sauce.
Service is non-existent here, save for the warm greeter at the entrance. My soup was spilled after the tray was placed on the table & no apology was given. In fact, no words were uttered - it took me 5 minutes to realize the diner has to turn on the electric heater for the soup to heat up. Err.. A heads up would’ve been nice? That aside, this was not a bad dish. Pretty dang filling, tasty, & certainly better value for money than the grilled fish set we ordered (the fish portion was super measly).
