Ordered DIY sets for CNY 1st day. Delivery slots were filled for 1st day but we were offered the option to self collect at their retail stalls. Was debating between fortune popiah & A*C* but im glad we went with fortune. Researching online reveals that the ingredients at fortune is slightly more complete with garlic paste included & that the service is better. This proves to be true. Arrived at 1030am for collection, stall has 3 employees & they are all very cheerful despite the long queue for collection, even making lame jokes with customers ( eh! I cannot find your order leh, no la just kidding). They worried that i cant carry the diy package myself as it was raining. I also top-ed up alacarte ready made popiah while doing collection & they did not display any impatience although the collection Q is long. Popiah turnip was filled only upon your arrival to ensure freshness. Something to improve is their collection process though : although there is 3 employee, only 1 guy truly knows what to do. Another lady employee outside is only involved in engaging customers while a maly macik wasnt really doing much in kitchen. Felt that the guy could use more hands in the kitchen, he was doing everything from assembling the packages & even making diy on-the-spot order
I pretty much grew up eating this popiah stall, taste of it hasn’t changed much (only price hikes due to inflation). Kueh Pie Ti and Popiah are the most worthy items to order from this stall. Vegetables used are really fresh, and KPT’s shell is appropriately crunchy too! If you’re ever here in Kovan market, definitely order this for sharing amongst your friends ☺️👍🏼 And if you really like em, they do have DIY sets available for takeaways too!
it’s not bad, quite generous with ingredients although a bit pricey. looks dry but that’s because we asked for no sweet sauce. we bought 4 with chilli and 4 without. but one thing we didn’t like was how some of them seemed to have extra popiah skin which made it feel thick and difficult to chew.
