A Serendipitous Find: Fizi Dum Biryani There is a specific kind of disappointment when you’ve set your heart on a "usual" spot only to find the shutters down. That’s exactly what happened at Geylang Serai Market today. With a movie ticket in my pocket, time to kill and a serious hunger to address, I pivoted and found Fizi Dum Biryani just a short walk away. It turned out to be a classic case of a plan B becoming a new favorite. The Location & Vibe You’ll find the stall tucked away on the side lane of the coffeeshop, a modest setup that belies the quality of the food. The stall is manned by two of the friendliest guys you’ll meet. We actually had a minor miscommunication at first, but we ended up sharing a good laugh over it. That kind of hospitality is rare and immediately made the experience feel more personal than your standard quick-service meal. The Food I went for the Mutton Dum Biryani, and it hit all the right notes: The Meat: The mutton was impressively tender and packed with flavor, avoiding the toughness that often plagues lesser versions. The Rice: Perfectly fluffy and fragrant. Each grain was distinct—exactly how a proper dum biryani should be. The Gravy: A very decent accompaniment that rounded out the dish without overpowering the spices of the rice. The Verdict Finding a spot that delivers both quality food and genuine service on a whim is a win. It’s a solid alternative to the stalls in geylang serai market, and the warmth of the owners/staff makes it stand out. I’ll definitely be heading back with friends and family to give the rest of the menu a go.

Abit too late for review but I had the lamb shank mandy rice during Ramadhan, and it was super sedap🤤 Can be shared with 2-3 people. The rice had this nice fragrance taste and everything compliments one another.

Classic biryani. We had both the chicken and mutton options. Both were so good. Chicken was blow torched and rice was fragrant with spices. Comes with the green chillies and yogurt. Mutton was soft and tender. They ran out of spoons but I got one after a quick wait. Will consider this a hidden gem for where it is located.
