K TTried the char siew hor fun from Hawker Chan - it was the worst char siew hor fun that I had ever eaten. Even an unknown stall at a coffee shop near my house sells a better version. The char siew I got from Hawker Chan looked different from the charred and glistening char siew hanging up at the stall. It was barely charred, hard to chew and tasted gamey. The hor fun was tasteless and not even the chilli which came with the hor fun or was for the meat could save the dish. I ended up not eating most of my food - what a waste of $8.80 and my stomach space. Will never order from Hawker Chan again.
Ching Ching OngFood court is good with a wide variety of local and international cuisine. Overall I would give it 4 stars. Just want to feedback on 1 particular stall - Kee Mei Siew Pow (奇美烧包). 2 stars is for thus stall. Each bun costs S$2.30 which is very expensive a small bun. But I still decided to buy (2 chicken and 2 pork buns). The most disappointing is the pastry which was not flaky or fragrant and tasted uncooked. The bottom pastry was thin but the top was v thick. Since the pastry is not tasty, I threw away the top after eating the bottom and filling! The taste of the filling was OK but can be more juicy. Those I bought from M'sia (may be a different brand) were so much more tasty that I ate all 8 that I bought over a few days! If the pastry isn't supposed to be like this, the owners should do some quality control. Else I really doubt this stall will survive much longer. There was still quite some left in their display cabinet at ~9pm. Singaporeans are v discerning eaters with picky taste buds too...
CARROT PEKUsually food court standard. Overall, the seating areas are clean. We went there during a weekday. We were upsold upon ordering the dumplings. Services are standard. Dumpling quality is not bad for the price range, but I still prefer Yuen Ji. Nothing much wowed me. Even though there wasn't much traffic, the dumplings still took about 15+ minutes to be completed.
