Wiz YeoI visited this Encik Tan branch at Junction 10 with some trepidation, having seen a number of negative reviews online, especially regarding food quality. However, I'm happy to report that my experience today was very pleasant and positive. I ordered their Signature Noodles, opting for the Mee Pok version. The service at the counter was quick and efficient. The bowl itself was definitely above average. It came with a generous variety of toppings—braised mushrooms, minced chicken, fried wantona, fishball, meatball, fried scallop and half an egg. All the components were tasty and worked well together. My main point of concern, based on other reviews, was the noodles. Many have mentioned them being overcooked and mushy. For my bowl, this was not the case at all. The mee pok was cooked well; while I personally prefer my noodles even firmer and more al dente, these were "firm enough" and had a decent bite. They were definitely not the overcooked mess I was fearing. Perhaps this branch has some inconsistency issues, maybe depending on the specific cook on duty, but I can only speak to my own experience. Today, I got a solid, satisfying, and enjoyable bowl of noodles, making it a well-deserved 4-star meal.
Iqbal RashidWitnessed one of the staff went out of her way to guide a mandarin speaking customer order food. The customer was served by a Malay staff and have trouble both have trouble communicating. So this mandarin speaking staff went out from the countwr to the customer and guided him. Simple gestures but really great to see good service still exist in Singapore. oh , she have always been friendly to everyone too .
Ron SheeOrdered Sambal Sotong Set ($6.80). Menu shows a generous portion of sotong, but what I received was only bunch of sambal and only 1 slice and 1 head. Staff mentioned they were closing and that was all left, but this should have been communicated before selling. There was also confusion with a drink upgrade. I was told to add $1, then suggested top up to $1.10 for a bigger cup. We agreed, but ended up being charged $2.10 for one cup, which did not match the explanation. When we clarified, the response from staff was not professional. Overheard he talking loudly in Chinese with his colleagues,”by paying $1.10 will get bigger cup ? I also want it” while confronting him Why did he said that ? Most concerning, I observed hin actually spitting into the basin while washing utensils. This is very unhygienic, especially for a halal-certified outlet. Overall quite disappointing experience. Hope management can look into this.
