I stumbled upon Dickson Nasi Lemak on Gopeng Street and it quickly became one of my favorite finds. This place delivers an exceptional nasi lemak experience — every element shows care and authentic flavor. The coconut rice is fragrant and perfectly cooked, with the right balance of creaminess and lightness. The sambal is the star: deeply flavorful with a pleasant heat and a sweet-smoky depth that ties everything together without overpowering the dish. I loved the combinations — crunchy ikan bilis, lightly toasted peanuts, and a bright wedge of cucumber for freshness. Their ayam goreng (fried chicken) had a crispy, well-seasoned crust and juicy meat; the rendang-style beef was tender and richly spiced. Portion sizes are generous and great value. Service is friendly and efficient, whether you dine in or get takeaway. The stall has a casual, welcoming vibe — perfect for a quick, satisfying meal any time of day. Cleanliness and presentation are solid for a hawker-style spot. If you’re on Gopeng Street and craving authentic, comforting nasi lemak, don’t miss Dickson Nasi Lemak. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!
Ordered the chicken rendang, which came with a sunny side up egg, ikan bilis, peanuts, coconut rice, and peeled cucumber, which was a nice touch. The chicken rendang itself was flavourful, though just a little too spicy. The rice was lightly infused with coconut, but it could have been more fragrant. Also ordered a hot honey lemon, which was a little too sweet. But overall, still a decent lunch meal.
Passed by this place many times but didn’t have the time to sample what they have to offer. Finally had the chance to try the drumstick nasi lemak today. It is yummy 👍 The only complaint is the metal spoon. It is a bit soft and can bend out of shape when trying to pull the chicken flesh apart. May want to consider changing to stronger spoons so your diners get a better dining experience.
