The mee rebus is a favourite of mine. The sauce has a slightly viscuous consistency and sticks to the noodle well. The sprinkling of lime and kacap manis gives the noodles a more sweet savoury yet refreshing taste. Enjoy it better with a bergedil at the side.

Lontong Sayur Lodeh (SGD $4) @ Desa Rancapanggung Malay Cuisine. . No surprise their ingredients are fresh daily, with preparations for dishes commencing well before dawn. . Their rendition has a broth with creamy rich savoury sweet spice flavour. The stewed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, string beans, jicama turnip) are all piled high, tender with flavours from the broth. . The dense compressed rice cakes are chewy soft with grainy sweet flavour, the bouncy whole hard boiled egg has eggy sweet flavour, and the spongy tofu bean curd picks up the taste profile of the broth well. . The crumbly kerisik / toasted grated coconut with earthy nutty sweet flavour, and chunky sambal belachan / fermented shrimp chili paste with savoury salty spice flavour, lend depth and body. . . . Mee Rebus (SGD $4) @ Desa Rancapanggung Malay Cuisine. . Established by Muhammad Sani in 2009, this shop is named for his wife's village in Bandung, West Java, Java, Indonesia. . Their rendition has a base of chewy soft yellow egg noodles, crisp bean sprouts, spongy tofu puffs, crisp green chili, bouncy hard boiled chicken egg, and crisp fried shallots, carrying grainy savoury sweet eggy vegetal spice flavour. . The gravy is balanced but less spicy than elsewhere, thick gloopy smooth with sweet savoury earthy spice flavour. The fermented soy beans are slightly more prominent here, nice. . Finished with a bit of lime juice and kecap manis / sweetened soy sauce, for added sour zesty tangy sweet salty savoury flavour. . . . Mee Siam (SGD $4) @ Desa Rancapanggung Malay Cuisine. . The first thing that strikes you is the fiery aroma and tangy zesty sour spicy flavour of the thin and punchy gravy. . Lately had been patronizing this stall almost everyday of the week. So far nothing disappoints me. They are generous on their servings. Staff was as quick as lightning to serve u and to clear the long hungry queues.. their pricing is so much affordable compared to other greedy nasi padang stall. Today my dish is rice with kangkong, tenggiri balado fish and sambal goreng. I paid $6.70 for it. If other nasi padang stall, it could easily cost $8-$10. This place is highly recommended.
