Great pricing. Good for students. Pretty quiet and value oriented. Fish and chips are pretty good for the price. The complimentary chips would be a usp for them. Tho the chips just taste "fried". Have to go with the sauces. Taste: Fish and chips (Cod)4/5 recommended value dish Chicken cutlet 3/5 too much skin and dough Yakitori rice 1/5 waay salty. No one could finish it Mushroom soup 2/5
I decided to revisit Big Fish Small Fish after nearly a decade because I remembered them for their generous portion of chips. While I understand that shrinkflation affects many businesses, the quality of the food should still be maintained. I ordered the fish and chips, but the fries were disappointingly soft instead of crispy. I informed the manager, who was polite and kindly replaced them, so I appreciate the good service. Unfortunately, the second batch was just as soft, so I eventually gave up and ate what I could. The fish itself was also underwhelming. The batter didn't taste fresh and had a flavour that reminded me of food cooked in old oil, which really affected the overall enjoyment of the meal. It's disappointing because I had fond memories of this place. While I appreciate the manager's effort to resolve the issue, the food quality simply didn't meet expectations. Sadly, this wasn't a good experience, and I don't see myself returning.
Went on a Friday afternoon, not too packed. Food came fast, order and payment was online. Claire was my server and she was very nice. We even had a quick chat when she saw my shopping bag. They gave chips - on the house. The sauce was good. It’s been a while since I ate here so I forgot how good the food was. The ice lemon tea was sugarless tho. Not sure if they provide syrup/sugar packet Thank you staff and team!
