Jun 26: update Drop to 3*... From 5* The quality of the rice bowls and sides like broccoli, has been deteriorating over the last few months. The beef bowl, for example, has a thick layer of oil leftover. The sides too... Definitely will work wonders on your cholesterol levela. Poor frying skills and unhealthy max. I have to air fry the broccoli to reduce the oils... And I needed two pieces of kitchen towel to soak the oils up... Bad for the heart! Dec 25: Delish Hakka fusion rice bowl Have been here umpteenth things since it opened like 3 months back. And all of them are good even after dabao and eaten 1 hour later. The great ones for me after the black beef bowl and the original crispy chicken bowl. The combo of meats, sauce and goods grade rice makes this a satisfying meal, always. Service is fast and warm. Kudos to the male server who always flash his smiles when taking order and dispensing the bowls. Will be back to try out the others. Take away only.
The portion is very generous and the buttermilk sauce is soo good. Not too overpowering as well. Overall it’s tasty and worth the price!
Had this for dinner on a Friday with a friend who wanted a larger portion of protein and vegetables (macros). I ordered the original crispy chicken topped with buttermilk sauce with an added portion of potato salad (+$3.80). I was pleasantly surprised that the portion was quite big. The buttermilk sauce was not too creamy and slightly spicy. The crispy broccoli was definitely the highlight as they were flavourful and charred well! Would recommend getting this dish. The potato salad (not pictured) came in a separate container as it was rather substantial. The salad was pretty standard with cucumbers and carrots. My friend ordered the beef bulgogi (not pictured) which doesn't come with a sauce. Apparently on the display, those on the left with the sauce options get a sauce topping while those on the screen on the right do not get an added sauce which makes sense as the bulgogi was already flavoured with sauce. I would say the portion of meat he got was well-worth the price, but it was not very worthwhile to get two pieces of tofu for $1.30 as it was just two squares of firm tofu. It also came in a separate container which was a little wasteful. There are no seats so people mostly got takeaway. There was a small table so my friend and I ate while standing. It could get a little noisy because in the middle of our meal, the store next door selling pancake began mixing the pancakes batter using a rather loud equipment which made it almost possible to hear one another talk. So it is best to just take the food away.
