Amazing hideaway place surrounded by greenery. There's also a small indoor pond with some albino turtles/terrapins! As it was kinda late, around 9:30pm we only got the chicken platter (5pc chicken with sides) and drinks. The chicken was moist but the skin was somewhat hard and dry, not crispy. But the flavor was still ok. Tasted a bit like Jollybee though, for some odd reason, just without the nice crispy texture of the skin. The size of the chicken thighs, breast and drumstick were kinda small though. And the food took a while to arrive. I have to say something about the service. When I placed the order at the counter the lady looked unhappy. But it wasn't just me, but she gave the same unhappy face to the previous customer. Same with the servers at the collection point. the dour faces sort of balanced out the peaceful scenery and pond. In fact, the lady at the counter poured one of the drinks wrong for me, and when I pointed it out, she angrily tossed the drink into the sink and put the glsss down loudly, then glared at me when handing me the correct drink. The service was saved by the cleaning staff who smiled when I helped return a tray to them.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop in Hougang Avenue 8 with my family, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled near a lovely park, the ambience is casual, warm, and perfect for a relaxed family outing. The highlight of our meal had to be the chicken chop tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection, making every bite a treat. The pizza was flavorful with just the right balance of toppings and cheese, while the vegetarian murtabak offered a surprisingly rich and satisfying filling that even non-vegetarians would enjoy. We also tried the cheesy sticks, which were irresistibly gooey and crispy, and the fish and chips were golden, crunchy, and fresh. For something lighter, the chicken Cajun salad was a refreshing choice, with perfectly seasoned chicken and fresh greens. Overall, Tenderbest Makcik Tuckshop is a fantastic spot for families looking to enjoy hearty, comforting meals in a relaxed, park-side setting. Definitely worth a visit!
Good Food, Green Views & Great Company We had a wonderful family dinner at Tenderbest nestled right by Punggol Park — the green, lake-side setting made our evening feel truly relaxed and laid-back. The vibe here is perfect for family get-togethers or casual dinners with friends, with both indoor and outdoor seating letting you choose a cosy air-conditioned spot or a breezy al fresco experience overlooking the park. The menu spread is impressively wide, covering everything from Western and Italian pastas to local favourites like prata and unique twists like Indomie fries — so there’s something for everyone in the group. Service overall was friendly and welcoming, especially from the front-of-house crew. The only minor hiccup was that the kitchen counter staff (where we collected some of our orders) were a bit brusque — but it didn’t take away from the overall great experience. The staff still made us feel comfortable throughout our time here. All in all, a fabulous spot for a relaxed meal after a stroll in the park — delicious food, lovely ambience, and perfect for family dinners and gatherings. Highly recommend! 🌿
